moonstruck

continuing
its eight-minute journey
from the sun to the earth

light
makes a shuttle trip
one second and another
half-second to the moon

returning
one second and another
half-second back to earth

look
you can see it
a dark shadow-circle
completing the moon-disk

that fading
doubly-reflected light
cradled by the bright new crescent

some
have never cared to look
would never see it anyway
wouldn’t care if they did
